New York City Ballet appointed Tiler Peck its first choreographic associate, making her the first woman in its history to hold a choreographic title. She will remain a principal dancer and create commissioned ballets over the next three seasons.
The company said Peck’s first world-premiere ballet in the role is scheduled for May 8. She will oversee her own repertory, take part in educational programs on choreography and mentor other dancers.
Peck said she hopes the visibility of her appointment will help more women see a future as choreographers at major institutions.
