Novice detectorists find possible ordnance on Caister beach

BBC

Two novice detectorists found a possible piece of ordnance on Caister beach in Norfolk on Saturday. The tide covered the find and the beach was cordoned off; coastguards will return Sunday to check if it remains. Specialist teams will decide whether to detonate it.

Coastguards attended at about 15:45 BST, and HM Coastguard said Emergency Ordnance Disposal and Norfolk Police were informed. Resident Emma Hastings said the item was deep in the sand and looked old; the finders initially thought it was scaffolding.
