Elon Musk’s X Corp and SpaceXAI have moved to dismiss antitrust claims against Apple, alleging its OpenAI partnership restricted AI competition. Claims against OpenAI will continue; the filing gives no reason and does not say whether a settlement was reached.
The lawsuit alleged that Apple’s integration of ChatGPT into Apple Intelligence on iPhones and other devices shut rival AI providers out. Apple denied wrongdoing and argued the integration was not exclusive. A U.S. judge allowed the case to proceed in November 2025, rejecting an earlier effort to end it.
OpenAI said it was not involved in the agreement and did not know its terms. It asked X to disclose them, arguing the details could affect the remaining claims and its defense.
