Munetaka Murakami hit two home runs and drove in three runs in Chicago’s 6-1 win over Colorado on Friday, a day after the White Sox clinched a playoff berth. They remain one game behind Cleveland in the AL Central with two regular-season games left.
Cleveland beat Kansas City 12-9 on Friday; Chicago holds the tiebreaker after winning the regular-season series. Murakami’s second homer was his 35th of the season, a team high, and his third multihomer game this season.
Sean Burke, Hagen Smith, Grant Taylor and Bryan Hudson limited Colorado to four hits and struck out 11. Burke allowed one run on four hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings.
