Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has joined the Netherlands squad to replace Brian Brobbey, who appeared to pull a hamstring against Germany. It is Zirkzee’s first call-up in 22 months; his six previous call-ups all came in 2024.
Zirkzee made his senior debut in the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Turkiye and also appeared in the semi-final defeat to England. The report says Ronald Koeman later gave him four further opportunities in the Nations League before dropping him from his plans, largely because of his limited playing time at United.
The Netherlands had three more UEFA Nations League fixtures remaining before the international break ended.
