A new exhibition at Milan’s Palazzo Reale brings together more than 200 artworks, garments, photographs and archival items to examine how Salvador Dalí drew on fashion and influenced designers, from his 1930s work with Elsa Schiaparelli to creations by designers today.
A featured example is Elsa Schiaparelli’s shoe-shaped hat, inspired by a photograph of Dalí wearing a woman’s shoe on his head. Dalí sketched the concept, which Schiaparelli turned into a high-heeled shoe-shaped hat.
The non-chronological show also presents creations by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli and Maria Grazia Chiuri and Jonathan Anderson for Dior. “Dalí and Fashion” is on view through 31 January 2027.
