Mia Goth has asked a Los Angeles court for a remote deposition in James Hunter’s lawsuit, which alleges she intentionally kicked him on the MaXXXine set. She says Hunter’s public claims and efforts to obtain information about her residence raise safety and privacy concerns.
Hunter’s January 2024 complaint says he was hired as a background extra and alleges Goth kicked him in the head during a take. Goth’s declaration says Hunter engaged with people connected to the case at their homes; she also cited her understanding that an unrelated restraining order against him involved findings of harassment, threats or conduct that caused fear and distress to another person and their family.
Hunter requested an in-person deposition for April 2027. Goth has not yet been deposed despite an August order calling for good-faith efforts to schedule it within seven days of another deposition Hunter is set to attend. In a Sept. 22 filing, Hunter said a judge had denied both parties’ requests for remote depositions at an April conference, but no reporter was present, so no transcript or minutes recorded the alleged ruling. He also claimed Goth’s team declined a Sept. 4 deposition.
