Gregg Popovich married Mary Barth Budenholzer on Sept. 16, a marriage confirmed by the Bexar County clerk. She was previously married to Mike Budenholzer, who served as an assistant coach with Popovich’s San Antonio Spurs from 1996 to 2013.
Mike Budenholzer later coached the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns, winning an NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021. Reports say he and Mary share four children and divorced in 2016.
Popovich, 77, stepped down as Spurs coach in May 2025 after 29 years and now serves as the team’s president of basketball operations. He suffered a stroke on Nov. 2, 2024.
