Max Scherzer says he will wait until after the season to decide whether to pitch next year. The Blue Jays pitcher is scheduled to start tomorrow, after going 3-9 with a 6.14 ERA across 77.2 innings this season.
Across two seasons with Toronto, Scherzer has an 8-14 record and a 5.64 ERA in 34 starts, with 34 home runs, 57 walks and 143 strikeouts in 162.2 innings. The writer said they would prefer giving those innings to a younger pitcher rather than re-signing him. Scherzer has said he would like to coach youth and amateur baseball.
Brett Bateman was back in Toronto’s lineup, while George Springer was absent.
