Ahead of this week’s U.S. jobs report, Yahoo Finance’s Market Hang panel highlighted wage growth and labor-force participation as figures to watch; one panelist said the headline jobs number was not his main concern.
One panelist argued that real wages need to rise against household costs such as education, health care, food and energy. He also said labor-force participation among men aged roughly 20 to 40 was low.
Another panelist said a major jobs surprise could have some effect ahead of the Federal Reserve’s meeting at the end of October. A different panelist said AI was supporting the market and he was not concerned about the jobs figure.
