Realty Income's monthly dividend may help retirees who rely on it

Motley Fool

Realty Income, a real estate investment trust with a recently reported 5.9% dividend yield, pays monthly; the article says that schedule may help retirees relying heavily on the stock, but may matter little to investors whose dividend income comes from a range of stocks.

Realty Income recently owned more than 15,500 properties, leased under long-term contracts to about 1,800 clients across around 90 industries. Its triple-net leases make tenants responsible for property taxes, insurance and operating expenses.

Occupancy was recently 98.8%, and the article says it has never fallen below 96%.
