At 19, Disney actor Malachi Barton stars in the “Zombies” films and “Camp Rock” revival and plays a warlock in Freeform’s “Coven Academy,” premiering Oct. 1. He lives with his parents and credits family and faith for keeping him grounded.
Barton said he bought his first house but continues to live with his parents and is often away for work. He said he is filming “Coven Academy” in Vancouver and “Zombies 5” in New Zealand, and that close friends outside the entertainment business keep him grounded.
“Coven Academy” is set to arrive on Disney+ and Hulu on Oct. 2, a day after its Freeform premiere. Barton is headlining the next leg of the Descendants/Zombies/Camp Rock: Worlds Collide tour and surprise-released his first single, “Stay for the Credits.” Variety honored him with its Rising Star Award at the August 2026 Power of Young Hollywood event.
