Kentucky State player Aminata Seck remains in ICE custody; her lawyer says she has experienced seizures and is hospitalized. DHS says she missed an immigration hearing and had a final removal order last year; her lawyer says she was unaware of the proceedings and order.
ICE detained Seck at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport on Aug. 7 while she was traveling with Kentucky State's women's basketball team to a tournament in New York. She has been transferred to four detention facilities since August, according to Front Office Sports. Attorney Sadiqa Reynolds also said Seck has an ACL injury and has not received consistent medical care in custody.
DHS said a pending application or work authorization does not confer legal status. Seck's lawyer said she had been taking steps to keep her student status intact.
