Kyrie Irving says he has no physical restrictions as Mavericks return nears

Kyrie Irving says he has no physical restrictions as he prepares to return to the Dallas Mavericks after 19 months out with a torn left ACL. At Friday’s media day, he said rehab gave him time to reflect and called the injury “probably the best thing that happened to me.”

Irving tore his left ACL on March 3, 2025. He said he wants his performance to answer questions about whether he can still play at an elite level, while Mavericks president Masai Ujiri said he is “right there” physically.

Irving said he is looking forward to sharing the court with Cooper Flagg, the reigning Rookie of the Year. Dallas, coming off a 26-56 season, hired former Michigan coach Dusty May to replace Jason Kidd.
