Diamondbacks need playoff help heading into Padres finale

Arizona meets San Diego in the regular-season finale with a chance at a playoff spot, but the Diamondbacks need help from other teams. Gabriel Moreno was scratched late amid a hamstring issue; Pavin Smith moved to designated hitter and Tim Tawa entered at first base.

The post says Arizona had a 5.6% chance of making the playoffs less than a week before the finale. Michael Soroka is listed to start for the Diamondbacks against the Padres’ Randy Vasquez.
