After Andy Burnham criticised Moscow at the UN, the Kremlin accused the UK prime minister of fuelling anti-Russian sentiment and said no high-level peace talks with Kyiv or Washington are planned.
Burnham told the UN on Tuesday that the UK would create a National Centre for Information Defence and accused Moscow of spreading disinformation. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called Britain’s approach short-sighted and said it would not help reduce tensions in Europe.
Peskov spoke ahead of a planned New York meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. He said Volodymyr Zelensky could come to Moscow with security guarantees, though Zelensky has previously ruled out such a trip.
