A federal judge temporarily blocked the administration's ban on CNN, MS NOW and Politico, and the White House television pool resumed live coverage of presidential events Friday, on the final day of Xi Jinping and Donald Trump's three-day summit.
The summit produced an extension of the current U.S.-China trade framework and fresh commitments to maintain stable relations. Xi was expected to leave Washington after the National Archives visit.
Before the planned Archives visit, Trump and first lady Melania Trump hosted Xi and Peng Liyuan for tea at the White House. Trump planned to show Xi the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights during U.S. 250th-anniversary celebrations.
