Rep. Lauren Boebert received a temporary protection order against David Wheeler, who filed an ethics complaint alleging affairs with three staffers. A judge ordered him to stay at least 100 yards away, citing risk of harm; she denies the claims.
The complaint, filed Sept. 17, alleges Boebert had sexual relationships with former district director Clarice Navarro, chief of staff Raven Finegan and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small. It says some encounters took place during official hours, in a district office and in hotel rooms paid for by a campaign committee. It also alleges a $200,000 payment was arranged to secure Navarro’s silence. Navarro called the claims entirely false and defamatory.
House rules reject ethics complaints filed within 60 days of an election; Wheeler filed his 47 days before Election Day. Boebert called the claims politically motivated and questioned whether the filing qualified under committee rules. Wheeler told Fox31 he planned to sue her for defamation.
