Jimmy Kimmel mocked the White House’s 24/7 Trump TV YouTube livestream on Wednesday after figures reported by The Daily Beast showed its audience had fallen almost 95% in three days: from a Monday-night peak of about 8,500 to fewer than 500 live viewers by Wednesday morning.
Trump TV launched after the White House barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from its press facilities. The three outlets filed a joint lawsuit, and a federal judge ordered the White House on Thursday to restore their access.
The administration has promoted the livestream as an alternative to traditional news. Deputy communications director Kaelan Dorr described it as an unfiltered stream of the administration’s “greatest hits.” Journalist Juliet Jeske said the footage she watched was old Trump coverage, with no added production, correspondent or anchor.
