EU defence chief Andrius Kubilius called Palantir “a great company” and said AI for intelligence and data management is crucial to modern warfare. He stressed that Europe should develop its own capabilities in an interview in Brussels.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda met Palantir CEO Alex Karp in New York during the UN General Assembly. Kubilius said he did not know what they discussed or agreed; media reports and official statements highlighted closer defence ties and NATO operations. Human-rights organisations and European governments have criticised the company over its use in military operations, mass surveillance and immigration enforcement.
On Greenland, Kubilius said a Tuesday agreement among Denmark, the United States and Greenland addressed tensions by removing US language that the island should belong to the United States. Trump claimed the deal gives him “permanent control” and includes plans to reopen two more US military bases. On Russia sanctions, Kubilius backed Germany’s proposal to replace unanimous approval with a qualified majority, saying individual member states should have less influence over sanctions lists.
