iFi Audio has announced the UP Play Max, a USB-C Bluetooth transmitter available for $89 in the U.S. It supports codecs including aptX Lossless and, through an app, an aptX Adaptive low-latency mode; it can connect two headphone pairs using SBC.
The adapter targets a limitation on iPhones: the article says they support AAC but not LDAC or aptX Lossless natively. Codec support varies among Android phones. Auracast broadcasting to compatible headphones is planned in a future firmware update.
The built-in microphone uses Qualcomm cVc noise suppression for calls and in-game chat. iFi says its K2 technology restores high-frequency harmonics; the Nexis app manages codecs and firmware updates.
