At its Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm outlined a personal-AI ecosystem for phones, PCs, cars and wearables, introducing glasses and pin designs and an AI hearables platform. It said workloads could run on-device or in the cloud based on privacy, latency and connectivity.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon START program is intended to help partners develop personal-AI devices, and the company said it created a compact module for AI glasses. Inspecs presented safety eyewear designed for hands-free industrial assistance. Qualcomm also previewed a Snapdragon Wear Elite-powered personal AI pin with standalone 5G and dual cameras; more information is expected next year. The new Personal AI Health Alliance will focus on on-device applications, with participants discussing potential uses such as fall-risk monitoring and clinical documentation.
Qualcomm said its Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2 is 30% smaller than its predecessor, with twice the compute and AI performance and 40% lower power use. It also reported more than 7,300 Windows on Snapdragon applications and over 170 PC designs; Linux support for Snapdragon X2 is official, with Debian support expected by year-end. Microsoft said 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop models with Snapdragon X Plus are available for preorder.
