Robbinjo Odum and infant daughter HazelJo are being treated in separate Oklahoma hospitals: Odum for necrotizing pancreatitis, HazelJo for conditions diagnosed at birth. Her husband, Cameron, travels between them while caring for their 2-year-old at home.
Odum says she developed necrotizing pancreatitis after gallbladder-removal surgery in May 2024 and was admitted to the hospital on July 12. HazelJo was born prematurely on Aug. 18 and diagnosed at birth with bladder exstrophy, anal and urogenital canal fusion, chronic kidney disease and other conditions. She is being transferred from Oklahoma Children’s Hospital to Bethany Children’s Hospital for more tests; Cameron said gastrointestinal specialists still need to determine what is causing her problems.
Odum said she relies on high-flow oxygen, a GJ tube and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for all her nutrition, and uses a wheelchair because of severe muscle and bone deterioration. Cameron said he cannot work while managing hospital trips and care for their older daughter. A GoFundMe for the family had raised nearly $21,500.
