Some Samsung Bespoke AI 4-Door fridges in South Korea lost cooling Sept. 22, 2026, after a SmartThings update meant for internal testing was mistakenly sent to customers. Samsung halted the rollout; reports said it targeted full restoration by Sept. 24.
Reported failures included dark interior lights, unresponsive touch panels, stopped cooling and units appearing offline in SmartThings; some reportedly remained on an update screen even after power cycling. Samsung attributed the problem to an accidental software-distribution error, not a mechanical defect. The affected models were a subset of Bespoke AI 4-Door refrigerators released from 2024 onward; Samsung had not disclosed the number affected.
Samsung apologized and arranged emergency service coverage through the Chuseok period, with call-center staff and field engineers available for urgent cooling failures. Owners were advised to move food to ice boxes while awaiting an engineer, and nine weekend-care centers were scheduled to operate Sept. 26–27 by advance reservation. Korean outlets reported free repairs were planned, but compensation for spoiled food had not been finalized.
