Harper, now seven, was given the all-clear in late August after treatment for stage-four neuroblastoma that had spread to her chest, spine and neck. A neck lump noticed hours after a football hit led to scans; doctors said the injury did not cause the cancer.
Harper received 80 days of chemotherapy, followed by stem-cell therapy, radiotherapy and six months of immunotherapy. She was twice placed in critical care, and doctors advised her family to say their final goodbyes. Her father said there was a 40% to 50% chance the cancer would return in the first two years; she will have scans every three months.
Pub landlords, local business owners and football club Derbyshire United raised money for Harper’s dream trip to Disney World in Florida. She is due to go next summer and is excited to meet princesses from her favourite films.
