Jimmy Garoppolo says he is ready to play in the right situation, and reports link him to the Giants’ quarterback search after Jaxson Dart suffered a serious Week 2 knee injury requiring surgery. Jameis Winston is starting, with Jake Haener as his primary backup.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said Garoppolo has been working out and does not want retirement to end his career. The New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy separately reported that Garoppolo might be a top choice for the Giants.
Released by the Rams this offseason, Garoppolo spent the previous two seasons backing up Matthew Stafford. He won two Super Bowl rings as Tom Brady’s backup in New England and led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance; his career totals are 15,828 passing yards and 96 touchdowns.
