Fat Joe said on Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda’s podcast Monday that he did not diss 50 Cent on Ja Rule’s 2004 song “New York,” and reiterated that the former rivals have no problems. 50 responded to the track with “Piggy Bank” in 2005.
Joe said he worked with producer Scott Storch on 50’s hit “Candy Shop” and urged Storch to give 50 the beat, adding that 50’s feud was with Ja Rule, whom Joe called a friend who saved his life.
Fat Joe and 50 settled their feud in 2012 after the death of their mutual friend and mentor, music executive Chris Lighty. In a 2023 interview, 50 said he had been “buggin’” when he targeted Joe over his connection to Ja Rule, explaining that he had mistaken Joe’s loyalty to Ja for dislike of him.
