Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair wrote Palestinian child Wafaa Akila’s name on his eye black during the team’s Week 2 loss to Cincinnati, a week after the NFL fined him for displaying Hing Rajab’s name. It is unknown whether the league will fine him again.
The article reports that Akila was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza on Sept. 6, her first day of school. Al-Shaair had also written “STOP THE GENOCIDE” during a January 2026 playoff game; the article says the NFL had fined him more than $22,000 for his eye-black messages.
