DNA testing identified remains found near Luling, Texas, earlier this month as those of missing Texas State student Jason Landry, officials said Wednesday, ending a six-year search. Investigators report no evidence of foul play; the remains do not reveal how he died.
Landry, 21, disappeared while traveling home to Houston for winter break in 2020. His crashed, abandoned Nissan Altima was found on Salt Flat Road in Caldwell County shortly after midnight on Dec. 13, with personal items nearby but no sign of him. A resident found the remains close to the crash site, just outside the established search area.
Landry’s family has been notified. A Facebook page for him confirmed the identification and thanked law enforcement, volunteer searchers and others who supported the family. The attorney general’s office said further information would be released as appropriate.
