Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Wednesday he signed a drone deal with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in New York on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, calling it a step toward joint protection and a stronger partnership.
Since the war began in February 2022, Ukraine has rapidly developed drone expertise. Zelenskiy has described the agreements as security formats tailored to each country or region. Ukraine has drone deals with some 10 countries and an accord with the European Union, combining its technical expertise with partners’ industrial capacity.
Zelenskiy also said at the U.N. General Assembly that a security accord had been concluded with Australia. He said drone capabilities could help countries control borders, mountain areas and roads, and protect infrastructure and transport.
