Three men were killed and four people wounded early Sunday in a shooting at an after-hours venue on Detroit’s west side. Police said the injured had non-life-threatening wounds; no suspect has been identified and no arrests have been announced.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said officers responded after a ShotSpotter alert shortly after 7:20 a.m. He said the address had generated seven calls for service since the start of the year. Another investigation involving the location was already underway, but Bettison declined to discuss it.
The three men killed were believed to be about 30 or older; their identities were being withheld pending notification of relatives, and police had not released the injured victims’ names. Mayor Mary Sheffield said she would work to crack down on illegal after-hours operations and that services would be offered to affected families and the community.
