Deputy Luis Hernandez will replace Mickey Gall against Sedriques Dumas at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas this weekend. Hernandez, 8-0, takes the short-notice bout at light heavyweight; Dumas is a convicted felon.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputy has finished all eight of his MMA wins by knockout or submission and has not yet fought under the UFC banner. Dumas, 31, is 10-5 with one no contest and is coming off a submission loss to Jackson McVey at UFC Vegas 116.
Fans on social media accused matchmakers of deliberately pairing the fighters because of their backgrounds. The article also notes Hernandez may simply have been the only available replacement.
