Clint Frazier returned to Scranton for the RailRiders’ final game under that name before next season’s rebrand, signing autographs and throwing the ceremonial first pitch. He said the change surprised and disappointed him, but remains a RailRider at heart.
Frazier said “RailRider for Life” began as a joke in 2019, after he was sent to Scranton and the Yankees were vague about whether he would return during September roster expansion. He played 213 games for the RailRiders from 2016 to 2019, batting .263, and helped the team win the Governors’ Cup and the Triple-A National Championship.
Frazier retired in July 2024 after a seven-season major-league career that included 280 games and 29 home runs. He said lingering effects from concussions in outfield-wall collisions in 2018 and 2020 affected his career; he now feels significantly better and said he has been offered a deal to potentially play professional pickleball.
