The San Francisco Giants claimed former reliever Camilo Doval from the Pirates, bringing him back to the club. They have used 70 players this season, one below the MLB record of 71; Blade Tidwell was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room.
San Francisco traded Doval to the Yankees at last year’s deadline for Jesus Rodriguez, Parks Harber, Trystan Vrieling and Carlos De La Rosa. With Pittsburgh, Doval posted a 3.79 ERA and 3.73 FIP in 19 innings; with New York this season, he had a 4.54 ERA and 4.61 FIP in 39⅔ innings.
Doval is under team control for 2027, his final arbitration year. He has 107 saves as a Giant, seventh-most in franchise history.
