Demi Moore said daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah gave her the foundation of love and acceptance missing from her own childhood. At Step Up’s Sept. 25, 2026, awards in Los Angeles, she also called them her greatest teachers.
At a 2019 Red Table Talk discussion with Rumer and Tallulah, the family revisited difficult periods in their relationship. Tallulah said she had felt distant because she knew relatively little about Moore’s past. The Washington Post reported that Rumer linked Moore’s toughness to her rarely showing vulnerability to her daughters; Moore acknowledged that hiding it had done them a disservice. The discussion also addressed addiction and Moore’s relapse after nearly two decades of sobriety, which contributed to a breakdown in trust and periods of estrangement.
In a 2024 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Moore said parents should give children room to become themselves. She said she offers parenting advice to Rumer only when asked, as her daughter raises Louetta, and praised Rumer as a mother.
