Newly inaugurated Duquesne University President David Dausey says his priorities include expanding health-sciences education, advancing the arts and ethical use of AI, and preparing leaders of integrity as the university approaches its 150th anniversary in 2028.
Duquesne has opened its College of Osteopathic Medicine and is constructing a health sciences building. Dausey said the medical school has received thousands of applications for a limited number of seats, which he sees as a sign of demand for programs that combine clinical excellence with a focus on the whole person.
Before taking office, Dausey held a university-wide listening tour with students, faculty, staff and alumni. He said he heard overwhelming support for Duquesne’s mission and a desire to preserve its distinctive qualities; discussions also included AI governance and ethical adoption.
