Darrell Long, 63, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder and other charges after shooting his ex-wife, Dawn, five times at her Lebanon County home in March 2025. The prosecutor said she believes he attacked her after she filed for child support.
Long was also convicted of burglary, two aggravated-assault offenses and misdemeanor harassment. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 9.
District Attorney Pier Hess Graf said Long sent his son 23 hostile texts about Dawn in the month before the shooting; one, sent 17 days earlier, warned the son could lose both parents. She said Long blamed Dawn and called himself a hero at trial. Dawn has lasting injuries, including a bullet lodged in her femur.
