At least three people threw punches at Corey Heim near Martinsville Speedway’s hot dog stand after a late-model race, video showed. The fight followed a cool-down-lap collision with Treyton Lapcevich; deputies broke it up and escorted Heim from the track.
Caden Kvapil won the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 and clinched the Virginia Triple Crown. Heim and Lapcevich had battled for second, and both cars were essentially destroyed after the checkered flag. Lapcevich acknowledged driving into Heim’s right side but said Heim accelerated and wrecked both cars; Heim said Lapcevich pinned him against the curb and kept turning left.
Lapcevich appeared to head toward Heim on pit road but was stopped by team owner Chad Bryant. The article says Bryant’s crew then attacked Heim near the hot dog stand.
