Billie Lourd says Debbie Reynolds joked about her 1959 divorce from Eddie Fisher after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. Lourd told The Times it was one of Reynolds’ favorite bedtime stories: she recalled having a Palm Springs home before “the divorce from Eddie.”
Fisher and Taylor married in 1959 and were together until 1964; Taylor’s affair with Richard Burton contributed to the marriage’s end. In the same interview, Lourd said she once tried to hide her Hollywood legacy but now feels lucky and proudly identifies as Carrie Fisher’s daughter and Debbie Reynolds’s granddaughter.
