Macron presents Scorsese and De Niro with France’s Legion of Honor in New York

Emmanuel Macron awarded Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro France’s Legion of Honor in New York. Scorsese became a Grand Officer for championing film heritage and independent theaters; De Niro was named an Officer for supporting media literacy and independent creation.

After accepting the honors, the longtime collaborators shared a sideways hug; Scorsese appeared emotional as he turned toward his daughter, Francesca. They have worked together on 10 feature films and one short, beginning with Mean Streets in 1973.
