Finland’s Gaussian Scout won the €10,000 Best European Project award and a €3,000 entrepreneurship mention at the 2026 Zinemaldia Startup Challenge; Spain’s Pixentinel took the €30,000 Best Spanish Project prize for its live-stream diagnosis platform.
Pixentinel says its system goes beyond outage alerts by analyzing video signals to identify likely causes, attaching evidence and confidence scores, and triggering responses through webhooks. Gaussian Scout is a browser-based tool for filmmakers to explore and measure 3D scans of filming locations. Its developer, cinematographer Antti Ahokoivu, said the project remains pre-commercial.
Ahokoivu said the prize money will support tests on real productions and further development of the cloud-based system, which is intended to let users upload and work with their own digital twins. A subscription launch is targeted for autumn 2027.
