An employee in Austria took 12 roughly eight-year-old HP laptops after the employer moved staff to Windows 11 machines. The laptops could not run Windows 11, so the worker installed Linux Cachy OS and reported all 12 were running.
The worker said the boss wanted staff to have Windows 11 laptops and handed over the old ones after being asked what would happen to them. The Reddit post said about six machines were spoken for, including for a spouse, a parent, office work, retro gaming, a home-theater PC and a homelab display; about six remained available.
