Justin Bieber went to Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park on Sept. 22 to distribute supplies to people experiencing homelessness, according to a source close to him; as a crowd gathered, he performed an informal set with several musicians. His group also handed out food.
A source close to Bieber said he distributed gift cards and water. Annie’s Bakery Cafe manager Daniel Orea told Page Six that Bieber and friends handed paper bags to unhoused people, and that two group members bought the bakery’s entire supply of freshly made doughnuts to hand out. TMZ separately reported purchases of socks, water and other supplies worth thousands of dollars. Bieber has not publicly given a detailed account of why he went; the stated purpose came from a source close to him.
Footage showed Bieber seated on the grass with musicians, singing and playing percussion as passersby gathered. The Los Angeles Times confirmed he performed “Yukon”; footage and local reports also documented “Speed Demon,” “All I Can Take,” “Daisies” and “Let Me Love You.” There was no announced start time, ticketed audience or large-scale stage production.
