Yemen’s Presidential Council chairman Rashad al-Alimi urged citizens Friday to join the armed forces against the Houthis. He said Houthi fighters who defect and stop fighting will receive full amnesty starting September 26.
Al-Alimi described a recent increase in Houthi attacks as a “dangerous escalation,” blaming the group for choosing force over dialogue and peace. He said Yemen’s armed forces aim to regain Houthi-controlled territory and restore regional security. He thanked Saudi Arabia for supporting the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen and efforts against the Houthis, and reaffirmed continued cooperation.
