U.S. sailor Connor Nelson returned to his Lemoore, California, apartment after nearly 10 months deployed on the USS Abraham Lincoln and found it burglarized; his SUV, TV, laptop, shoes and fishing gear were stolen. His father's fundraiser says police are investigating.
The GoFundMe created by his father, Justin Nelson, says several thousand dollars’ worth of belongings were taken and the apartment left trashed. It sought funds to replace the items, clean the unit and cover a hotel stay while Connor waits for the landlords to change the locks and install security; by Sept. 26, it had raised more than $38,000 toward its $45,000 goal.
The ship left San Diego on Nov. 21, 2025, and was initially scheduled for a seven-month deployment. It had spent 280 days at sea without a port stop when it reached Thailand in early September for a rest-and-relaxation stop.
