Finnish YouTuber Abdirahman Keinaan’s docuseries “Keinaan, Go Back to Somalia” premiered at Helsinki International Film Festival. It follows his trip to Somalia and his exploration of what it means to live between two cultures.
Keinaan said he was born and raised in Finland and has heard “Go back to Somalia” since childhood, first face-to-face and now in online comments. He said he had long feared Somalia after hearing that people were being killed and that it was dangerous, before curiosity prompted his visit.
The series is co-produced by Keinaan’s company Knaans and YLE Culture & Factual Content, directed by Keinaan and Timo Korpi, and produced by Pertti Neuvonen. Keinaan said he wants to return to Somalia without cameras to connect with people there.
