Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster says doctors found a slight heart blockage after he nearly fainted onstage in Utah in June. He had a stent procedure in August; his team canceled tour dates during recovery. She says he is doing well and eager to return.
Lancaster said Stewart had experienced a couple of upper respiratory infections and performed at a very high-altitude gig, which she said could affect anyone; they did not know then about the heart issue. In an Aug. 11 post, Stewart’s team said doctors were pleased with his recovery and that he had returned to normal daily activities. The team said doctors advised him to take four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage.
Lancaster said Stewart was already back in the gym and that she, her brother, his trainer and doctors were making sure he followed medical advice. He has announced several 2027 U.S. tour dates, including shows in Florida, Georgia and Colorado.
