For National Coffee Day on Sept. 29, Forbes lists 20 coffee-inspired dishes and drinks, including a New Orleans coffee-infused Sazerac, Nashville coffee-and-cocoa-rubbed lamb, espresso cocktails, desserts and a zero-proof barrel-aged espresso drink.
Coffee also features in savory sauces and rubs: Houston's Brennan's serves a smoked pork chop with chicory-coffee barbecue sauce, while Scottsdale's Citizen Public House uses a Moxie Coffee rub on short ribs served with parsnip purée and cherry barbecue sauce.
85°C Bakery Cafe's marketing director said the company sells an average of 5,000 Sea Salt Coffees daily companywide. Its Sea Salt Caramel version combines a sweetened Americano made with Vietnamese coffee, caramel sauce and sea-salt whipped cream.
