Lamine Yamal said it was respectable to argue that Lionel Messi or Rodri deserves the Ballon d’Or, adding that every nominee has a case. He cited Messi’s great World Cup as one reason he is in contention, while saying other nominees have different arguments.
Yamal had recently described himself and Kylian Mbappé as the world’s two best players. He has also said Messi was the best player at the last FIFA World Cup, although Rodri won the tournament’s official best-player award.
