England head coach Thomas Tuchel praised Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha before the Nations League match against Spain, calling him explosive, strong and adventurous in one-on-ones. Now called into England’s senior squad, Ngumoha said he wants to establish himself as a regular.
Ngumoha featured in England’s pre-World Cup preparations, coming on as a substitute against New Zealand and winning man of the match. He was omitted from England’s initial 55-player provisional list, making him ineligible for the final tournament squad under FIFA rules, including as an injury replacement.
Ngumoha said Liverpool’s coaching staff had helped him and that he is playing on both wings, which he described as another tool against defenders.
